Our Senior Staff
Bex Rosenblatt, Director
Bex started at The Main Idea all the way back in 2004, and has worked as a junior counselor, Head of Waterfront, Activities Supervisor and member of the administrative team. Bex holds a BA from Williams College and is completing her MA in Hebrew Bible at Bar Ilan University. She currently works as Mid-Atlantic Faculty-in-Residence for The Conservative Yeshiva. Bex’s favorite place at camp is the lean-to early in the morning as the sun starts to steam the fog off the lake.
Katie Chew, Assistant Director
Katie Chew has worked as the scheduler on the administrative team at The Main Idea for five years. Known for her organizational skills, sense of humor, and daily favorites lists, Katie Chew can solve any problem that comes her way. She holds a BA from Georgetown, and is currently completing a joint MFA/MBA in Film and Television Production at NYU. Katie’s favorite place at camp is Peace Circle.
Julia Santos, Head Counselor
Julia started at Main Idea as a 9 year old and progressed through our Steps Program, from camper to leadership, to junior staff member, to counselor. For the past three summers she has been a member of the administrative team, working this past summer as Bunk Supervisor. Julia also brings a wealth of camp experience from her role with the Brookline Recreation Department, where she has worked as a day camp director. She holds a BA/BS from Westfield State University and an MS in Crime and Justice Studies from Suffolk University. She currently works as kindergarten and first grade teacher. Her favorite places at camp are canoe and arts and crafts.
Kiara Thomas, Social Worker
Summer 2020 will be Kiara’s 15th summer at Main Idea. For the past many summers, Kiara has been part of the administrative team, running our Junior Staff program. She holds a BSW from Western New England University and an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania. Kiara currently works as a Program Manager at Project HOME, overseeing a residential employment program for previously homeless folks. Kiara’s favorite place at camp is anywhere the stars at night are most visible.
Alayjah Flores, Head of the Steps Program
Alayjah has been a mainstay of Main Idea for the past 13 summers, most recently as Head of Leadership. Alayjah holds a BA/BS from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She is currently working as a paraprofessional at Michael Driscoll School with 6th and 7th graders. Alayjah’s favorite place at camp is kayaking in our beautiful lake.
