Each bunk has the opportunity to go on an overnight camping trip in the beautiful forests of Denmark, Maine. They start their trip by visiting Pietree Orchards in Sweden, ME, where they take a guided tour of the orchards and pick blueberries to share with all of us back at camp. (Yummy!) They then go on to enjoy a quick day hike around the Sebago Lakes region ending with a trip to The Gazebo, a local ice cream shop in Bridgeton, ME. The actual camp-outs usually take place at the Camp Walden lean-to on Walden Pond or at a stunning lean-to camp spot on Moose Pond (generously loaned to us for use by Camp Wyonegonic). The girls get to learn and sing campfire songs, help their counselors cook over the open fire, make yummy s’mores and sleep in a rainproof tent! Every trip ends with a van full of tired campers and many cherished memories to write about in the camp yearbook!
